Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Does It Really Matter Where You Go To College? in the forum My journey 7 years, 4 months ago
My bachelors was definitely a, “who would give me the most grants,” pick when it came to choosing. My Master’s was a, “what school will accept me without having to take the GRE or pay an application fee.” The Master’s degree was in state but VERY expensive and while I definitely like the feeling of going to a prestigious school I can’t tell you…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic How to save a million dollars? in the forum Grow your savings 7 years, 4 months ago
Not only saving but saving and letting it sit there. That’s the hardest part. I don’t know if I’ll be on this earth another 40 years but $179 a month is definitely achievable…

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador started the topic An Appropriate Budget for New Furniture in the forum Buy a house 7 years, 4 months ago
Hi All,
I’m not buying a house but I have to move out to an apartment of my own. I moved back in with my mom about a little over a year ago and I had to really consolidate and throw things away. I’ve kept some major things like a dinning room table and my bedroom furniture but I don’t have any living room furniture or kitchen. I also have to…[Read more]

I would actually take your documents and sit with other financial advisers to get their opinion on the plan you have. Depending on their suggestions I would take those comments, concerns or questions to your advisor.

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic How Saying No to "Free" Things is Freeing Up Our Income in the forum My journey 7 years, 5 months ago
I most certainly say no to free things when it comes to sales pitches. Its always tied to some form of package that you pay later or 30 days for free and then you end up paying when you forget to end the trial period. Its much less of a hassle. One in particular would have cost me $50 dollars had I not remembered to shut it off.
You know what…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador started the topic Learning to Not Splurge in the forum My journey 7 years, 5 months ago
Hi All,
Every Friday or pay day I just feel the urge to splurge. Sometimes its not even a pay Friday. It just has to be Friday… I try my hardest to not go to the mall down the street on my lunch or make excuses and say its okay to eat out today but its still really hard to not, “treat myself.” What are your tactics to stay away from splurging…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Pension: Wait or Cash out Early? in the forum Plan your retirement 7 years, 5 months ago
I think you should wait. 12 years is a while but I don’t think its enough time to be aggressive in your investment. I think anything other than the pension would bring a low return on investment.

Hi All,
One of my clients went through a boot camp program for homeownership and decided that she wanted to invest in property for income before buying a home for herself. I always thought it would be wise to purchase a home for yourself and then acquire other properties. Then I thought, is there a reason to this order and does it matter which…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Have you heard of the Diderot Effect? in the forum My journey 7 years, 5 months ago
Thank you for sharing. I had no idea what it was called but when I was in sales we capitalized on this all of the time. Each package was either missing a piece or you couldn’t get the best results without the add-ons. It’s a trap for sure. Fortunately for me once it needs more than one piece I get frustrated and no longer have an interest lol

Hi All,
Its about that time where my lease is coming to a close and I have a huge decision to make when it comes to choosing my next car. I’m not interested in purchasing my lease because I’d be paying for an absurd amount for a used car. I LOVE leasing but I’m interested in your opinions on what you decided to do. My main reasons for leasing are…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic That's It…I'm Doing It…I'm Paying Off My Furniture in the forum Manage your debt 7 years, 5 months ago
I agree with the other ladies BUT I also know what peace of mind feels like. Do you have a ton of time left to pay off the furniture? If so, I see what you mean but do you think you can hold out a little longer to take advantage of the 0%? Either way I think you’re in good standing. Debt without interest is a win and peace of mind is a win!

Hi All,
So, I’m in a position where I feel like I just can’t squeeze out another dime by cutting back and saving. I have to find a new position with higher pay which isn’t an easy task at all!
