It was great and an even better feeling to hand the concierge my debit card instead of my credit card at check in!

Thank you for your post. I just recently invested in office space after being afraid to hit the trigger for over 6 months. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I’ve been able to bring in additional income due to the focus and quiet time I now have in my new space.

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Does selling your family home and downsizing fit in your retirement plans? in the forum Plan your retirement 7 years, 6 months ago
I think this is a great question and one people don’t often consider when they are attached to their homes. Its probably best to move if you don’t need all of the space and it can be hard to keep up as well. I like your outlook and its definitely something I would consider.

Congrats Kayla! I’m so happy for you! I am not a parent but what I can say my clients often tell me is sometimes its splurging on the child too. They would pick up an outfit here and there because its relatively cheap when they are little but not realizing that $50 is magically gone from all of the “cute” stuff they bought the baby. They will grow…[Read more]

I’m one of those people who fell into a credit trap straight out of college and even when I was making good money I immediately begin spending beyond my means. I’m paying for it now and I’ve been really strict with paying down my debt. There are struggles but one of the things I never thought I’d be able to do while paying off my debts is pay for…[Read more]

Hi All,
I’m on a pretty strict budget and have financial goals that I am very focused on. My issue seems to be family members who end up in a crunch or need money at the last minute. I have no problem giving money but I also know I need time to set it aside in my budget. Sometimes it seems like I’m being mean because I ask them to wait for my…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Second home options in the forum Buy a house 7 years, 7 months ago
I think the timeshare could be a great option because if its transferable you won’t be limited to vacationing in one place up north. If you purchased a home and decided to go away to somewhere else from time to time you’d still be spending more money than you wished.

My biggest pieces of advice echo yours. Most important for me were to begin saving as soon as you start working and to get into your employers 401k as early as possible. It will pay off in the long run and save you for those emergencies you weren’t expecting.

I want to plan a trip for later this year and these tips will definitely help. I will most certainly look at booking a flight from a hub city. Philadelphia is big but I know I get better deals flying from NY or MD. Thanks for the tips!

Yes, I would worry about the stress. I have too many things going on to make sure that I stay on top of my retirement accounts.

Hi Suzanne,
I’ve never heard of choosing an advisor that isn’t 100% independent. I wonder why that would be a bad thing.

Hi all,
I started a little late on the on saving for my retirement but nothing too crazy. I missed out on probably 2 years due to switching jobs and eligibility with employers but the good things is that I’ve been saving consistently ever since. My 401k is matched by my employer and my previous one was as well. I saw a financial retirement…[Read more]

So, I’m super excited because I just started using the snowball method for my debt. I always would just pay more than the minimums but I found an excel sheet with formulas to calculate all of my debts and use the snowball method. I’m also taking a huge risk but I think its the right decision for me. I’ll be deferring one of my student loans for a…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic How much is that doggy in the window really going to cost me? in the forum My journey 7 years, 7 months ago
Insurance was one of the first things I purchased when I got my puppy and I researched my butt off to make sure I had it in time for her spay. The time came and they denied the request and other things. I felt like I was scammed and ended up receiving my money back. Now, about a year later my dog ate raisins and a few months after that she almost…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Wedding Bells – How do I keep this at a minimum? in the forum Manage your debt 7 years, 7 months ago
Have you checked into restaurants that serve family style? Although it wasn’t a wedding party I hosted a party at Maggiano’s for 20. Guests were responsible for their own alcohol at the bar and dinner was $30 per person. We were able to order as much as we wished since there was no limit on how much we could have once we decided on our choices. No…[Read more]

Antoinette Minor – Ambassador replied to the topic Creating a Retirement Vision Board in the forum Save for retirement 7 years, 7 months ago
I love this idea considering it makes it visual and something you can look at every day to make sure you are on the right track. I’ll have to start one myself. When I think of vision boards I think short term goals but why can’t they be long term as well?
