Here is information we have shared on this subject in the past. I found out how much options have narrowed the hard way when I checked into this for my parents about 5 years ago. I was told that this coverage should be in place in your early 50’s, or else you are unlikely to qualify (note: rules vary by state). At the time, they were too old to access any affordable plan. We ended up funding a nursing home for my Mom with savings. It was $4,500 per month, but can be much higher depending on the cost of living in your town. However, these expenses provided a tax deduction for my parents that softened the sting of those payments. Please let us know if things have changed in this current environment in your state.
